This free Cleaning Service Cost Calculator is a handy tool to estimate how much it would cost for a cleaning service to clean your house. Before a cleaning company gives you a quote on the price, use this calculator to get a general estimate. Note that the average house cleaning rate will vary depending on where you live and the duties you would like performed. For example, if you live in a big city, the estimate for a cleaning company may be higher than if you live in a rural area. Also, depending on what type of house cleaning you would like, those prices will vary as well. But with this handy guide and calculator, you can get a general idea of what you may pay for a cleaning service.
What does a cleaning service do?
People hire cleaning services for many different reasons and companies offer different types of cleans. First is a General Clean. This would just be a regular cleaning such as you might do yourself. It includes cleaning bathrooms, kitchens, mopping floors, etc…
Then there is a Deep Clean. This involves a much more thorough clean than the General. Usually it entails moving furniture to sweep and mop underneath, walls, baseboards, under appliances and cleaning windows.
You can hire a cleaning service for a Move Out clean or a Move In clean to get your house or apartment ready for you or new residents. This would be for an empty residence, before or after all the furniture and belongings are moved.
A Construction Clean is probably the most involved clean offered. This would be for new construction houses or if you had some remodeling done. Because of all the dust and debris created during construction, cleaners go in with a fine tooth comb and scour the area, including getting up things like paint splatter and grout fragments
What do cleaning services charge?
Cleaning services can charge by the hour, by the number of rooms or by the square footage of the home. They will usually send someone out to do a walk-through of the home to calculate an estimate. This is a good chart to give you a general idea on how much you may pay:
Calculated by the hour
The average cleaning cost per hour is $20 to $50. They may also have a minimum of two hours for a job. The price can also vary if they send one person or two.
Calculated by the square footage
Average general cleaning costs per square foot are 10 cents to 17 cents. This will also vary depending on how cluttered your house is.
Calculated by the room
The average cost per room is $30 to $50 per room. And all rooms are not created equal. They may charge more for the kitchen or bathrooms as they get used the most and will require the most cleaning.
Cleaning Service add-ons
Many cleaning services will have a list of add-ons that you pay a little extra for. These include things like doing the laundry, changing bedsheets and and refrigerator cleaning.
How to use the calculator
- First you’ll need to get some information from your desired cleaning company. Give them a call and find out how they charge; by the room, hour or square foot. If it is by the room, you’ll need the cost per room as well as the cost per kitchen and bathroom.
- Click on the drop-down menu that say “Base the cost on” and click on the correct entry (number of rooms, square footage, or number of rooms) and input the information you received from the cleaning service in the calculator.
- The calculator will automatically give you the estimate.
